Include a clear introduction, outlining the topic and the way you are going to approach the essay.
In the main body examine different aspects of Elizabeth's reign to judge whether or not she deserves her reputation eg: Religious policy, Marriage, Mary Queen of Scots and the threats from Catholic plots, the Spanish Armada, her image.
Use the Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link structure.
Include an overall conclusion directly answering the question.
You can use the information from the text book pages 44-55
Write around 600 words.

We are now going to look at the life of one of the most famous Renaissance popes, Alexander VI.
Read pages 48-49 of your text book and then do the following activities:
a) Produce a bullet-point factfile on Alexander VI (you can get extra information from your own research). Try to colour code the points according to whether they are good, bad or neutral.
b) Examine Source B closely. What is the message of this woodcut? Try and find out who the Lutherans were and some more of their woodcuts that criticised the Pope.
c) Do you think Alexander VI was a great pope or did he do more harm than good? Remember to support you argument with evidence.

3. Using sheets 1 & 2 explain the criticisms of the church that were made in Source 2. Using your own knowledge of the Renaissance add any other criticisms that you think might have been made against the church.
4. What do you think is the message of Source 1 and how does it get its message across?
5. Using sheet 3 explain who John Wycliffe was, what he did and what the Lollards thought.
Look at source 1.B on sheet 3. What does this source tell us and why do we have to be careful about using it as a piece of historical evidence?

3. Put the title: The Estates and draw the pyramid which is on p103 of the sheet. Then use the information on page 10-11 of your text book to do a factfile on each Estate.

Does Elizabeth I deserve her reputation as a great queen?
Include a clear introduction, outlining the topic and the way you are going to approach the essay.
In the main body examine different aspects of Elizabeth's reign to judge whether or not she deserves her reputation eg: Religious policy, Marriage, Mary Queen of Scots and the threats from Catholic plots, the Spanish Armada, her image.
Use the Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link structure.
Include an overall conclusion directly answering the question.
You can use the information from the text book pages 44-55
Write around 600 words.

Homework for Monday, Oct 19th
We are now going to look at the life of one of the most famous Renaissance popes, Alexander VI.
Read pages 48-49 of your text book and then do the following activities:
a) Produce a bullet-point factfile on Alexander VI (you can get extra information from your own research). Try to colour code the points according to whether they are good, bad or neutral.
b) Examine Source B closely. What is the message of this woodcut? Try and find out who the Lutherans were and some more of their woodcuts that criticised the Pope.
c) Do you think Alexander VI was a great pope or did he do more harm than good? Remember to support you argument with evidence.

1. Finish writing up the worksheet on the Introduction to the Renaissance. For each section explain what it was like before the Renaissance, what changed during the Renaissance and why this changed occurred.
2. Then write a paragraph explaining which change you think was most important and why.
3. Draw a cover page for the topic: Renaissance with your own drawings and images to illustrate the topic.
